Train to Busan
I really didn't expect to be this emotionally affected by a movie that was about zombies on a train. But, I was. Zombie movies usually have something to say about our humanity, and this one was no exception. Much of the time, what zombie movies have to say about our humanity is that we are all perfectly capable of being monsters. What this one has to say is that we are also capable of being angels. And it says that without being saccharine or manipulating us emotionally.
Random things I geeked out about:
Su-an's face! (The little girl in the above screenshot) So expressive and at times heartbreaking.
The underlying theme of "Hey assholes! When things go to shit, we cooperate and work together!"
The shot at the end on the train. I'm not going to spoil it, you'll know it when you see it.
The movement of the zombies! So cool. (I'm a dancer, I notice things like this.)
They didn't "Night of the Living Dead" the ending. We were worried. And yes, I do realize I just used a title as a verb. You will deal with it.
I know a lot of people are bored with the zombie genre. This movie is still worth your time.
